Description
I love that this bottle of non-alcoholic wine is labelled ‘Red’. No varietal, just RED. As I mentioned in my recent Red Wine Blog “Don’t get distracted by varietals. Nothing is going to taste like it’s supposed to. If what’s in your glass bares a close resemblance to ‘dry red cask’ TAKE IT. THAT’S A WIN!”
DAMN Gina! This smells good, earthy, oaky, like red wine (minus the fumes).

Gosh. This is PRETTY jolly good! Dry, savoury, peppery, oaky flavours all balance out the rich berry fruit flavours. It’s a tiny bit thin but I think that is just something we have to live with when it comes to non-alc red wine. And it really is forgivable because this wine is scoring high in all other categories!
From the Lautus website I learn “Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinotage sourced from various vineyards from the Coastal region. A percentage of the grapes are picked earlier to retain acidity whilst the balance is picked at optimal ripeness.” This baby is also 9-12 month barrel aged.
It’s low everything (except flavour); low cal, sugar and carbs. It’s a lot more expensive than my favourite (to date) Lindeman’s Cab Sav but I think it has pipped it at the post.
I HIGHLY recommend! Let me know what you think! I’ll be making sure to try the rest of the range.
