Non Alcoholic Rosé Wine

I used to inhale Rosé like my life depended on it. A good bottle of Rosé is just delightful, refreshing and a little too easy to drink.

I like the crisp, dry and a little on the light side. Lucky for us there are a few producers who are making alcohol-free versions that totally fit the bill.

Altina Kakadu Plum Rosé 10/10

Category:

Description

It’s fair to say I am a massive fan of Altina’s Sansgria. It’s dry, delicious and full of good winey flavour. So when Altina launched their new range of still dealcoholised, native-infused wines, I was very excited to give them a try. First cab off the rank is this Kakadu Plum Rosé. A blend of alcohol removed Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and native Kakadu Plum.

In the glass this pours a beautiful deep warm pink hue. On the nose it’s rich, a little sweet with that lovely hint of tart plum coming through.

In the mouth, this is a delight. It’s definitely a a unique non alcoholic rosé, but a delicious one. It’s full bodied, tart and there is a beautiful bit of warmth that come from some added spices. It’s really well balanced and though sweet, it’s not overwhelmingly so. Even though obviously you’d drink this slightly chilled, the spices give you a bit of heat that makes this acceptable even on a winters day.

Would be lovely with a robust grazing platter or a rich pasta or curry. That bit of acidity cuts through nicely! Can’t wait to try the rest of the range!

Tread Softly Everything Except Rosé 10/10

Category:

Description

Wow the Tread Softly Everything Except Range is here to IMPRESS! The Pinot Grigio is a delight and possibly one of the best non-alcoholic white wines I have tried.

But this Rosé is what you call NEXT LEVEL good. It ticks all the boxes of what I am looking for in a Rosé. I would love to try it side by side with some of the other greats, Giesen and La Tautila to see how it measures up!

It’s clean, crisp with light and gentle berry flavours and aromas. It’s not sweet and it is so well balanced. Just the right amount of acidity and mouth feel. They have removed the alcohol without removing the essence and flavour of the wine so well it’s remarkable. Again this is low in sugar and cals and for every 6 bottles sold, Tread Softly are planting a native tree, they have planted over 500,000 to date!

Leitz Eins-Zwei Zero Sparkling Rosé 10/10

Categories: ,

Description

To be perfectly honest with you, in general I find non alcoholic sparkling Rosé wines to be a little on the sweet side for me. The good ones (like Noughty) I can appreciate for their taste and quality, but I am always going to favour a dryer Brut over a sweeter Rosé. Just to set the scene for you!

The Leitz range is a pretty exceptional one, everything I have tried to date has been pretty high quality (especially their Riesling).

In the glass this is a beautiful warm pink hue, very traditional colouring for a Rosé. On the nose I am getting raspberry and strawberry notes, that are a little on the tart side.

In the mouth? DELICIOUS! REALLY well balanced and erring away from the sweeter side. The Pinot Noir grapes are giving great mouth feel, great depth of flavour. It’s nicely dry, tart and fruity all at the same time. A nice light bead. This wine is well and truly refreshing!

A GREAT summer sipper!

Leitz Eins-Zwei Zero Rosé 8/10

Category:

Description

Leitz have a good little range of non alcoholic wines including a Riesling and a Pinot Noir. Made from Pinot Noir grapes this non alcoholic Rosé from Leitz looks GOOOOOD in the glass. A really deep berry coloured Rosé. Just delightful!

On the nose it smells like a good robust wine with rhubarb leading. And then I would say it’s quite a little party in your mouth! Lively if you like! VERY refreshing, a little tart, a little acidic, some strawberry and citrus vibes. A really good full mouth feel, a little GRIP (a fancy wine term I learnt recently, means it has tannins that stick to the sides of your mouth). It lingers nicely too, you could not accuse the Leitz Rosé of being thin! If anything it is a little sweet but so far from sickly, it’s really nicely balanced.

On this sticky day I am inhaling this like it’s liquid gold!

Odd Bird Sparkling Rosé 10/10

Categories: ,

Description

Odd Bird non-alcoholic wines are fabulous. Some of my fav’s you will find HERE. I have had this bottle of sparkling rosé in the cupboard for some time now. I’d been saving it for a special occasion. That special occasion is now reviewing it for you on a random Wednesday morning. Don’t worry, I am sure it will not go to waste!

Made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes from the Languedoc region in France, it has been aged 12 months in barrels. In the glass it is a really warm hue, more a yellow than a pink, very deep and very pretty. It smells incredible, like a wine. Fancy that!

To taste, it is everything you want in a sparkling rosé. It is smooth with a beautiful bead with flavours of apple and berry. It is sweet, but not too sweet. A really nice balanced wine with an excellent mouth feel. You can just tell that lots of love, care and quality grapes have gone into the making of this!

Thomson & Scott Noughty Rosé 10/10

Categories: ,

Description

JUST BUY THE DAMN WINE. YOU WON’T BE DISSAPOINTED.

We all know and love UK based Thompson & Scott for their original sparkling Chardonnay. For many, it’s the pinnacle of the alcohol free sparkling wine world. This sparkling Tempranillo adds to the family in a most excellent way.

This wine is so balanced it would have kept Jack afloat at end of Titanic. It’s the perfect blend of sweet fruit that you expect in a rosé, with a dry finish and a little acidic kick. It’s got a beautiful fine bead and an authentic yeasty mouth feel.

I’m halfway through writing this review and more than half the bottle is gone it THAT GOOD. This is a truly pleasurable drinking experience.

As with the original sparkling Chardonnay, this is certified Organic, Vegan & Halal. The sugar content is slightly higher which you would expect from a Rosé. ALSO as with the original Noughty, it can sell out very quickly so shop yours today!

Señorío De La Tautila Rosé 10/10

Category:

Description

Alcohol-free still Rosé has up until this point been somewhat lacklustre and disappointing. I had found nothing that really closely resembled the real deal leaving a gaping hole in my summer drinking arsenal.

Enter La Tautila. Oh My Goodness. This is good. Made in Spain from Tempranillo grapes, it is crisp, refreshing, dry and full of flavoursome berry goodness. It’s a little tart but not overwhelmingly acidic.

It’s barrel aged and you can taste that. There is maturity there. There are no grape juice or vinegar vibes here. It’s also full bodied, not watery like the Plus & Minus Rosé can be.

I’m buying a case, stocking up on olives, dusting off my deck chair and waiting for the summer to arrive. The Señorío De La Tautila Rosé will be the perfect accompaniment.

Natureo De-Alcoholised Rosé 7/10

Category:

Description

This non-alcoholic wine has been on my to-try list for a fair while now! This is made in Spain using Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.

In the glass it is a delightful, warm and intense pink hue. The smell is also quite intense and a little on the fruity side. It has a little bit of a raisny quality despite the sugar content being quite low.

In the mouth…hmm. There is good intensity and mouthfeel. But to me it’s sitting slightly on the side of too sweet. There is not a lot of tannin or acidity to balance that out. On tasting here I realise this might not be cold enough.

After a longer spell in the fridge, meh, it’s still a little on the sweet side for me and lacking in complexity. Ok. Best served well chilled. If you are looking for a non-alcoholic Rose that is better than this, look for the 1920 or Two Hoots. Both great examples.

Vinada Sparkling Rosé 9/10

Categories: ,

Description

Vinada is the new kid on the block here in Australia. Touted as “the World’s favourite bubbles”. The short of it is, this is a very very nice non-alcoholic sparkling wine. A 9/10!

The long of it is the Vinada Sparkling Rose has a beautiful bead (not like the fizz that some other AF sparkling’s have). A full mouth feel, no skimping on flavour here! First thing I noticed is the slightly sweet fruity finish. I say slightly because it’s not overwhelming, there’s just a hint of strawberry. You might know by now I can’t stand when wine is too sweet, this is not that. There is a beautiful balance and a dry finish. It’s the same profile you would expect from a “real” sparkling rosé.

Because I am committed to accurate reviews (and always very thirsty) I have sampled alongside the Vinada Sparkling Chardonnay. The Chardonnay I prefer, just because it’s slightly more acidic and dry. The Rosé would be perfect for a high tea or with a cheese board sitting in the sun (now I’m just dreaming).

It’s super exciting to have these new top notch drops arriving in Australia!

It’s vegan, low cal & sugar. It also comes in a piccolo size which could be a very good option for hospitality or days when you don’t want a whole bottle! (do those days exist?)

Plus & Minus Rosé 7/10

Category:

Description

First impression was it has quite an acidic kick to it, which I quite liked. It’s not too sweet (hurray) and is definitely close to the real deal, just lacking a little in intensity flavour-wise. Like maybe you popped an ice cube(cardinal sin)in your wine and by this stage it had melted.

That would not be enough to put me off buying this again though. This drop was perfect for an afternoon party in the sunshine. It disappeared quickly (?) and could have gone another!

Next Destination 2022 King Valley Rosé 8/10

Category:

Description

The Next Destination range of non-alcoholic wines has consistently blown my socks off. 10/10 on every release to date. Aside from Noughty I think that is unheard of!

And a Rosé release just in time for summer (fingers crossed). In the glass this is a gorgeous bright, cool pink hue. On the nose I am getting a little rose and strawberry but it’s subtle.

To taste, it’s honestly not everything I was hoping for. I am still waiting for my socks to be blown off. It’s really nice and smooth. There are beautiful delicate berry flavours present… and that is sort of it. It feels a little lacking in comparison to the rest of the range. It’s on the acidic side and it is nice and dry and crisp. It’s just lacking in terms of winey-ness. I am being incredibly picky here, but the bar has been set high by the rest of the range.

Certainly worth a try but I think I favour the 1920 Wines Rosé of the most recent releases!

Brown Brothers Prosecco Rosé NV Zero 10/10

Categories: ,

Description

Brown Bothers have finally extended their non-alcoholic wine range after the success of their Zero Prosecco. That is an excellent example of a non-alcoholic sparkling wine and I am hoping this delightful-looking Rosé is the same!

This is a beautiful deep pink hue, so lovely in the glass. It smells freakin amazing. A little on the sweet strawberry side but it smells like a legit wine which is so often not the case!

To taste, this has everything you love about their original non-alc prosecco. It’s really dry and crisp. The bubbles are robust and give you excellent body. There is a tartness that I love but it’s not too acidic either. There are delicate strawberry and citrus flavours and a really nice full mouth feel. Defs my drink of the week. So glad I ordered two bottles!

Wolf Blass Rosé 8/10

Category:

Description

So far in my reviewing, the Wolf Blass non-alcoholic wine range has not fared tooooo bad. As I have mentioned before, the ingredients list is waaaay too long and unnerving for my liking, it’s a smorgasbord of additives and preservatives.

In the glass this is a lovely pale pink salmon colour. The aroma is fruity and earthy, with a hint of something not quite right.

To taste, it is actually quite nice. Well balanced, with good acidity, slightly on the thin side but the good mouth feel carries it well. It is definitely not in the “too sweet” category and it would pair nicely with food. If you care not about what is in your wine, then this is definitely worth a go!

If you are looking for a cleaner non-alcoholic Rose that is better than this, look for the 1920 or Two Hoots. Both great examples.

Tempus Two Zero Spritz Rosé 5/10

Category:

Description

Woah! The nutritional info on this bottle just made me do a very expletive double-take. This bish is HIGH in calories and sugar. Not alcohol level high but gosh it’s getting up there. That makes me nervous.

Yes it’s true, I did once spew at Tempus Two in the Hunter Valley, but it had been a long day of wine tastings and so a tactical vom was required to keep me going. Such. A. Lady!

This is called a spritz, but there doesn’t seem to be any bead to it. But in the mouth it is slightly fizzy. Ever so slightly. I’d be hesitant to call this a wine, more a rosey, strawberry water. Its god damn sweet and syrupy. So full on. If you are after a strawberry sugar water, then this is the drink for you. I can’t finish the glass!

Giesen 0% New Zealand Rosé 10/10

Category:

Description

I’ll say it…

This is easily New Zealand’s best export since ME!

Just in time for peak Rosé time here in Australia, we have a clean, crisp, chewy, vibrant new Rosé on our hands from Giesen, the makers of the best Sauvignon Blanc on the market. Now I am no fancy wine person, but if I had to guess I would say there is a tiny bit of savvy b in the mix here, but it is so perfectly blended and balanced, it’s not giving me the savvy b shudders.

This wine is medium bodied, sticks to the tongue REALLY nicely and is a perfect blend of fruit flavours and acidity. Because I like to compare and contrast to get you an accurate review, I tried the Giesen 0% Rosé along side La Tautila Rosé which is my Rosé measuring stick (because I love it!). I think they are both great in their own way; the Giesen is a touch lighter and crisper than La Tautila, which feels slightly more rasiny in comparison. Either are a perfect accompaniment to sunshine and good cheese!

Order now and order in bulk, because this sold out in NZ in record time!

McGuigan Zero Rosé 6/10

Category:

Description

This is essentially a cut and paste job from the McGuigan sparkling review. This is what I would call “emergency wine”. If my online orders are depleted and I need to take a bottle for a social occasion, then this is readily available even in the country.

It’s not great but will do in a pinch. I’d say a little on the sweet side and doesn’t have the flavour profile of the better wines.

Jacob’s Creek Unvined Alcohol-Removed Rosé 6/10

Category:

Description

On first sniff, I had to do a double take and check this bottle was actually alcohol free. It smells VERY legit. But that’s the peak of the experience with this Jacob’s Creek Rosé. It’s all downhill from there.

This Rosé is unsophisticated and a little bit basic. Whilst it has a full mouthfeel, its a full and syrupy mouthfeel. It’s not crisp and refreshing like I prefer a Rosé. I get the raspberry flavouring as described on the bottle, but more as a raspberry juice vibe. Like you’ve defrosted some frozen raspberries and are drinking the tasty run off juice. Nice, but not what I want in a wine.

Because I like to compare and contrast to get you an accurate review, I tried the Jacob’s Creek Unvined Rosé along side La Tautila Rosé and it was like night and day. The La Tautilla the clear standout with a more robust flavour profile and an actual wine flavour as opposed to a syrup flavour. Interesting as per serve, Jacob’s Creek is actually lower in sugar!

Too sweet for mine.

Lautus De-Alcoholised Rosé 7/10

Category:

Description

The short story here is there are much better alcohol free Rosé wines to buy and enjoy this summer. In a blind taste test this did not hold up well. Such a shame as the Lautus Red is a real winner!

This Rosé is quite sweet and syrupy, it’s got a good mouth feel and it’s certainly not thin, but it’s not a complex as other better wines that are are on offer. It just doesn’t taste so much like wine.

It’s an entry level non-alc rosé. For the same price you could have the La Tautila and the Giesen which are both exceptional. It’s not offensive, but you deserve better!

Surely Sparking Rosé 9/10

Categories: ,

Description

I am so excited, my first virtual visit to Sanoma Wine Country! And for a non-alcoholic wine none the less!

On the nose this is a little fruity, which had me a little worried.

But is it? Hell no! This Rosé is dry as a bone! The pear and guava (added to the mix) are there but they are OH SO subtle. Really interesting flavour, so far off sweet which I LOVE. Great acidity, lovely bubbles and a good mouth feel. Some non-alc wines can feel syrupy in the mouth, this is not, but you do get a lingering taste which I appreciate!

Made with the best grapes and natural ingredients, this wine is Gluten-Free, Vegan, and Keto-friendly. It’s by far the lowest calorie, lowest sugar alcohol free wine I have seen. I am sad we can’t get this in Australia, I would have it on high rotation!

NEWBLOOD Non Alcoholic Rosé 6/10

Category:

Description

Newblood alcohol free wines and I, we are not shall we say the best of friends. Both the Shiraz and Chardonnay totally missed the mark for me. But never one to write off a wine, I decided to give their Rosé a go…just in case.

On the nose, it smells the goods. A winey wine, as opposed to a grape juicey hot mess.

But oh christ. That is where the positives go out the window. The balance is waaaayyy off. I am an acid tongue and this is cringingly acidic. Like screw you face up level acidic. Teeth stripping acidic. If that could be dialled waaaay back this wine might have some promise. Some sparkling water may salvage it but nothing else will!

For the same price point do yourself a favour and grab the Tread Softly Rosé. It’s an infinitely superior non alcoholic wine.
