Cello Bella is a new release from Monday Distillery just in time for summer (we’re still waiting here in Victoria). Inspired by Limoncello, this is a little bit of a spritzy non-alcoholic take on the Italian favourite. They’ve blended a vodka-inspired taste with Amalfi lemon zest. For this acid tongue, it sounds right on the money.

Having spoken to Sammy, I know she wanted to avoid something that tasted like a squash at all costs. And it certainly tastes as though she has! There is a sherberty-ness about it, it’s a little fuzzy, but it’s balanced out nicely by the bitterness of the lemon zest. As with all the Monday non-alcoholic cocktails, this is made with stevia instead of sugar, so you are trading off the intense flavour you would get with the sugar for the health benefits of being sugar-free. There’s a little bit of a caramel element in there that keeps it well rounded and the profile is definitely more sophisticated and adult than a soft drink.

I’ll be garnishing with a squeeze of fresh lemon and enjoying this over ice!
